The importance of drawing in the intellectual development of children
Syed Arif Muhammad Rumi
In the general sense, art is the characteristic form that gives pleasure to the human mind. Art that infuses the feelings of the mind with beauty, brings joy to the mind, and stirs the mind, and which is essentially emotional and creative, is art. There are different types of art. A painting or picture is one of them. As a teacher of art, today I will discuss the importance of art in the intellectual development of children. In my experience, I have seen that children can be interested in developing their imagination, curiosity, and creativity through drawing pictures. Children are encouraged to think freely and independently and to learn to distinguish between good and bad. Interested in learning about nature, the environment, and the universe? Learn about and respect national history, traditions, and culture.
Children have tender hearts. They feel comfortable living in a happy environment. They learn unconsciously through pleasure, at will, by turning around, by fanning the lantern of imagination, and by playing. Dominance, control, fear, and a gloomy atmosphere hinder the child. The famous French philosopher Rousseau called education a child's spontaneous self-development. The goal of education is the natural and balanced development of a child's abilities and strengths. In this case, the main task of a teacher is to discover the inherent characteristics of the child and achieve its full development. And another of the child's inherent characteristics is image recognition. Through pictures, a child expresses his unique thoughts and views. As family, society, state, or nature are captured in his mind, he tries to portray them through pictures. This is true not only for normal children but also for special children (autistic) in society. Special children express their imagination through drawing. Although their imaginations are different, they are extraordinary. They are not incompetent, but creative. In fact, because of the immense importance of pictures in enhancing children's creativity, pictures have been considered a compulsory subject in primary education. So let's give some importance to pictures to develop the creativity of children and make the next generation intelligent.
